December 18th 2023
I woke up at 8 am, snoozed 3 times, then decided to sleep till 10, woke up, and then went back to sleep on a different bed. I finally stopped sleeping at 11, went to the basement and I decided to work out because I felt sluggish. I did 50-70 pushups, 50 crunches, and Hindu squats for 50 reps. Then I took a shower, but I didn’t have enough discipline to turn it all the way down for a cold shower, which makes you feel horrible, but after it's a great sensation. After that I ate my first meal of the day, which was lunch, and I left for school.
I sat down around 3 and I worked for the first 1 and a half hours and then watched YouTube videos till 9 pm. These YouTube videos fall in the self-help category so in the moment I delude myself into thinking that I’m being productive.
At 9 pm, felt disgusted with myself, and I internally lashed out at friends, and family mostly because I did not want to study, so I meditated for about 30 minutes. During the meditation, I could not focus at all during meditation, my mind was wandering after about 5 minutes into the session.
However, I realized I was complaining and playing the victim mindset which gets you nowhere in life. I started studying again, I studied from 10:45 to 12:30 and decided to go home. Even at home, I decided to eat dinner and watch another hour and a half of YouTube till I went to bed around 2:30 AM.
What did I do right?
Getting out of bed at 8 AM
Studied for around 4 hours
Meditated for 30 mins
Worked out
Showered
Reading my book on the train
I did not watch YouTube whilst eating
What can I do better?
I need to sleep earlier, so I can get up earlier
I need better focus for studying
My meditation needs to be a little stronger, right now the focus is very scattered
Instead of just Hindu squats I should warm up with Hindu squats and do explosive squats
Add pullups into the mix to activate more back muscles
Add one minor muscle group that I’ll hit once every day, calves, shoulders, or forearms
I need cold showers
Time efficiency is something that I need to prioritize, in the morning I’m sure I can cut down 30 minutes, but I prepare the day beforehand.
What changes will make a big impact on my life?
More time Meditating - if I can meditate, and study with more intensity my focus greatly improves which will improve my quality of life and the efficiency at which I perform tasks
Preparing for the day ahead - Having a rough, reasonable schedule with 8 hours of sleep can help me streamline my thought process for the day, this means having things ready to go, like picking out clothes beforehand
Getting rid of YouTube - The amount of time I waste on YouTube is atrocious, so I’ll go on it for an hour every day, the plan is to slowly decrease that time to get it down to 0. I’ll replace YouTube by reading more books
