July 18th : Salesman
The most fun part about sales, is talking and getting to know customers. I sold this old gentlemen a F-150, that was probably going to be his last truck. He was sharing his stories about life.
In 1980s, minimum wage was 8 dollars, and he had to work one full time job and 2 part time jobs just to make ends meet. The mortgage was at 20%, and it was extremely tough for people to pay of their mortgage. After 3 years of working really hard, and paying off the mortgage, they got a letter from the bank. It read "Congratulations you have paid of 500 dollars of the debt " . He said he got it framed in his living room, you can figure out why he did that, because I don't know why. There were many people going through this same situation. People couldn't afford to pay out their mortgage, thus came the one dollar mortgage buyers. These people would buy houses for one dollar and assume the rest of the mortgage. Most of the time, this was a scam. He was telling me about his friend that got scammed, but then he had to go see a finance manager.
