June 7th : Acruzins Concert
I met Toriane, Ethan, Jerry, Gonzales, and some more but I forgot their names. I like meeting new people and laughing with them. I wish I talked to more people today.
Today's highlight was acruzins song about his pep rallies turning into parades. I could see his struggles as an up-and-coming artist, how people view him. There is lots of fierce competition out there coupled with people saying he can't do it. Everyone wants to be rapper, making the whole field corny, with terms like "sound cloud rapper". Anthony holds his head high and continues forward. He speaks about how much he's grateful for the people that supported him. I'm glad I met Anthony at such an early stage in his journey. Me and Anthony work sell shoes together at sportchek, he's inspiring to be around and he's always lifting people up.
Whenever I look at old music of big time rappers, like Dave, there's a few songs that just speak about his life, and those songs build a deep connection with audience. This was one of those songs, where it wasn't just the music, but you could hear his soul too. Then I wonder why it took them that long to blow up, I feel that Anthony is one of the artists. Any artist can write about superficial things, but weaving your soul into your work, is what makes a great piece.
Anthony inspired me to follow my own dreams, it's hard to do you want really want to do. "FolLoW YoUr DrEaM" gets thrown around a lot, but its different when your the one doing it. Often times it means going against the grain, even if you have people that love and support you. They wouldn't be able to see your vision, their belief will waver. Then it get's really hard to stay on lonely path, it's hard to trust yourself. Along the path of uncertainty lies everything you hoped to achieve, it's a simple but arduous process. It's not a binary, where YES or NO to your dreams, often times it's a process, it's every single day, you gotta confront that question.
