Listen More

I need to listen more. I read this a long time ago, "Win Friends and influence people" said that you have to be genuine to build connections. Today a person told me her entire life story. I walked away from that conversation, knowing that I made a really good friend and learned valuable lessons from her. I had the same opportunity twice, to do the same with two other people, but I messed it up.  As soon as I started talking about myself, the flow was lost, and they naturally zoned out, into their phones or got distracted.  If I just kept asking questions, I could have learned all about them. Once I attempted to prove that I was of equal value or greater, especially when I wanted to study them. I lost the opportunity to learn. I need to be humble and listen.
