March 18 : Complete Life ( note for jeric)
A definition of success that is applicable to most people is a whole, well lived life. A life that encapsulates the positive range of human emotions. I distinctly remember in history learning about the 4 pillars (might not be pillars) of life in Hinduism. Average life was split into 4 parts. I don't remember the sanskrit words, but it was Education, Family & service, Community and God.
Education: You spend the first 25 years learning about things, and preparing for success in life. The first 10 years or so you live with your mother, and then you live with your master. Then the master teaches you about life, and how you should live it.
Family : You you start a family and serve the community through working a job. I don't remember too much about this portion, but it would make senes that it has to be fruitful. Even in Christianity, a marriage is defined as fruitful (having babies). Successful parenting might be the ultimate test in someones life, because you have to manage providing resource for the kids as well as shaping them into capable adults. It makes sense that you would need two people, to ensure that this kid is brought up successfully, since this is a complex task.
My brother Jeric is 11, I'm 20 there is a 9 year difference between us. I've always wanted a big brother, and I try my best to be a father-figure for Jeric. I end up falling short for Jeric. I try to talk to him everyday, but sometimes when he starts talking its so hard for you to leave and it's so hard for him stop talking. I don't think I give him as much attention as can give him. I can see how parenting might be alot worse .
Community : This is where I remember it differently. I thought that 50-75 years you are supposed to serve the community better, in the sense that you can act as a councilman or be in positions where wisdom is needed. When I googled this, it said the 3rd stage is when you start praying more, and prepare for purification.
God : The last 25 years this is when you renounce your possessions and get ready to be with one with God. I've always been a fan of this idea, even before I really knew what it was to pray. Everyone had to draw who they wanted to be when they grew up in grade 4, and I drew a monk. I believe the martial arts something to do with it, but I've always been drawn to the spiritual unknown. I tried so hard in grade 6 to learn levitation and there were a ton of youtube videos on it at that time. Unfortunately I didn't learn how to levitate.
Jeric if you are ever reading my blogs, just know I love you so much it's insane. I don't spend enough time with you, but I'm on an engineering mission. No matter what Jess-achacha will always love you, everytime I come and give you a kiss and it makes me happy to have little brother like you. I know you barely have a personality but I think you have some great potential. Yesterday, you beat me at basic math, which is pretty good. I had the honour of picking out your name Jeric, I think your mom wanted it to be Derick or something. I hope I can be a great role model to you in the future. It's been a couple weeks since I've been making you write a journal, I know your still 11 but its a good habit to get into. You'll thank me when you're 20 : )
