Uncle Uncle : Oct 4
Now it’s been a month since I’ve been back in the City of champions 🏆. Third year really picked up this week. I have two midterms next week, and before you know it, it’ll be finals. I’ve been enjoying my classes, now we have enough background information to delve into the much more complicated more interesting concepts. One thing that I’ve always been coming back to is the fundamentals. No matter how advanced you get, if your fundamentals aren’t strong you won’t be able to get past a certain level. I’m certainly feeling this in our Electromagnetics class, there are some things about infinitesimal areas and volumes that I haven’t really internalized. This was a principle in Calc 2, all the way back in first year, but even now it’s a foggy picture, but everyday it gets a little clearer, and then it goes go back to foggy again. Math is magical, from the bottom of my heart, I think it’s absolutely insane that we can get the area under pretty much any curve. I’m talking specifically about limits to infinity and limits to zero. If someone told me they could do this, I genuinely would think its voodoo because it’s such a big gap, not of arithmetic but of imagination, someone thought you can do it, specifically Newton. In a way he dared to do it, and he did, miraculously.
My electromagnetics course is hard, it’s hard enough that I was dreaming about the problems in my sleep. That’s also something I want to start doing, I want to read some hard physics problem before I go to bed, and then think about it as I fall asleep.
I’ve been reading the Idiot, and it’s honestly kind of scary how relatable he is. It’s basically about this guy that just fantasizes, and just hyper analyzes every single scenario.
Life is good, I’ve been going to classes, and then asking questions during office hours as well. I’m really trying to learn this semester. Even then I’m not sure if I should be grinding out internships right now, but I’m just trying to make sure I learn all of this. I’ve been interested in Power, i.e generating electricity, the reason I bring that up, is when I was younger I looked up to Nikola Tesla, and he basically made electricity possible. I forgot about Tesla, but it’s weird/cool that it all came back full circle.
I have this hilarious uncle-uncle joke that I’ve told over 6 times that’s well worth a listen. Thank you to Aryan for recording 🫶
